We strive for total customer satisfaction and want you to be completely happy with your purchase! If you wish to return or exchange a product, please contact us within 30 days of receipt of your order. Products must be returned in new, unused, never assembled and in resalable condition with all their original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer. Please note: as much as we hate doing this, we reserve the right to decline a return if improperly packaged, or adjust the refund if hardware is missing or hammock is not in like new condition.

Limited One Year Warranty

Hammock Universe ("Hammock Universe") warrants that for a period of one (1) year from the date of original retail purchase, this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship. Hammock Universe, at its option, will repair or replace this product or any component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be made with a new or remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available, replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty.

This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser from the date of initial retail purchase and is not transferable. Keep the original sales receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty performance. Retailers selling Hammock Universe products do not have the right to alter, modify or in any way change the terms and conditions of this warranty.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not cover discoloration of product, damage caused by mildew, mold or any external source. It does not cover normal wear of parts, or damage resulting from any of the following: rodents, pests or any animal, negligent use or misuse of the product, commercial use of the product, use contrary to the assembly instructions, repair or alteration by anyone unless the service was authorized by Hammock Universe. Further, the damage warranty does not cover acts of God, such as: fire, flood, wind, hurricanes, tornadoes, storms and any form of precipitation: (i.e. rain, snow, hail). Warranty void if damage to the product results from the use of a part other than a genuine Hammock Universe part.

Please note that ALL carriers charge a return fee equivalent to the outgoing shipping fee. It is important to understand that the stated weight capacity refers to static weight—the total weight applied without movement. Dynamic weight, which includes the additional forces generated by motion such as bouncing, swinging, or sudden shifts, can significantly exceed the static load. These dynamic forces place additional stress on the hammock and its components. Repeated use near the maximum static capacity, particularly when dynamic forces are involved, may accelerate material degradation and increase the likelihood of failure. It is the user’s responsibility to remain well within the prescribed static weight limitations and to minimize excessive movement to ensure safe operation and preserve the structural integrity of the equipment.

Bamboo Hammock Stand Care and Maintenance

The bamboo stand is in its natural state. It has only been oiled (70% Tung and 30% Rosin mixture) for protection during transportation and storage. This protection will not be sufficient against the elements.

Your bamboo stand is crafted from raw bamboo due to its large size, which differs significantly from smaller bamboo items like spoons. Treating large bamboo structures is more complex and cannot be done in the same way as smaller items. As raw bamboo, your stand requires specific care and maintenance to withstand outdoor elements.

While smaller items can be made from heat-treated or carbonized bamboo, undergoing a process that enhances their durability, the large size of your stand makes this impractical. The cooking process removes much of the bamboo's natural starch content, making it less attractive to pests and more resistant to moisture. However, this process is not feasible for larger structures like your bamboo stand.

Maintaining your bamboo hammock stand is therefore essential to ensure its longevity and structural integrity. Bamboo, while robust and aesthetically pleasing, requires diligent care to withstand environmental elements, particularly humidity.

Initial Preparation and Installation: Before setting up your bamboo hammock stand, it’s crucial to stain it thoroughly. Allow the hydrogen peroxide to sit on the surface for about 10-15 minutes. This gives it time to kill the mold spores. Using a soft brush or cloth to gently scrub the surface, to remove the mold.

Another option is to use a pressure washer. To remove mold from your bamboo stand using a pressure washer, first set the washer to a low-pressure setting to avoid damaging the bamboo. Hold the nozzle about 12 inches from the surface and gently spray the mold-affected areas. You can adjust pressure as needed within the bamboo stand tolerance. Move the nozzle in a sweeping motion to ensure even cleaning. Afterward, let the bamboo dry completely in a well-ventilated area. Staining the stand afterwards will go a long way.

Seasonal Storage: Proper seasonal storage significantly extends the life of your bamboo hammock stand. Before winter arrives, disassemble the stand, clean it and remove molds that could proliferate during storage and store it in a dry, sheltered location. For Those Who Cannot Take It Apart or Have Nowhere to Store It:

If disassembling the stand or finding storage space is not an option, there are still measures you can take to keep it extra dry during the long winter months under the snow:

1. Waterproof Covers:
• Invest in high-quality, waterproof cover furniture. Ensure the cover fits well and securely wraps around the entire stand to keep moisture out.
2. Elevate the Stand:
• Elevate the bamboo stand off the ground using blocks or a pallet. This prevents direct contact with snow and reduces the risk of moisture wicking up from the ground. Shovel accumulated snow around the stand to prevent build-ups.
3. Ventilation:
• Ensure there is some airflow under the cover to prevent condensation build-up. We want to prevent water from coming in while letting moisture out.
4. Regular Checks:
• Periodically check the stand during the winter months to ensure the cover remains secure and to wipe off any condensation that may have formed underneath.
5. Apply Protective Coatings:
• Before winter, apply an extra layer of protective stain to the bamboo to add an additional barrier against moisture.

What is to be expected from using your stand in the elements

Oxidation
An unprotected bamboo stand will allow oxidation on the surface. The bamboo stand will turn grey on the surface. Similar to what Cedar or any other wood would do.

Minor cracking
As with any organic material, minor cracking is to be expected when the bamboo contracts and expands in its new home backyard. The difference in the various climates we have across North America will affect how your bamboo stand reacts. Annual stain application over the bamboo stand will reduce water absorption and minimize cracking from expansion and contraction.

Delamination
Delamination is covered under our 1-year warranty when the stand was properly protected with a stain. This is especially rare but not impossible. Delamination will often happen when the stand is not protected which allows the Bamboo material and glue to get soaked with water. Over time, this breaks the bond and causes delamination. Hence the importance of staining your stand.

By following these maintenance steps—thorough initial staining, annual re-staining, cleaning and proper seasonal storage—you can significantly extend the lifespan of your bamboo hammock stand, ensuring it remains a beautiful and functional addition to your outdoor space for years to come.
